Surfing |
There are two surfing locations in the area. The first Liznjan spot and the second Marlera spot.
The map shows the roads to reach the spots.
LIZNJAN SPOT
Liznjan spot is located on the north east of the Marlera peninsula, on the way out of the port of Kuje. To reach it, you have to drive from Liznjan to the sea, and then follow the signs to the church of Kuje. Take the path on the right of the church. On rainy days you have to be careful on that path. You will reach a pine forest where you can put together your equipment, and take shelter from the wind to enjoy the view. Conditions vary and are suitable for beginners, wave and freestyle surfers. You can also surf transversely in relation to the port so it?s good for kite surfers too.
MARLERA SPOT
On the way from Liznjan to the Marlera beach, you will drive between big fields and reach a long series of reeds which protect the coast from the wind. This spot has its own story and is a beautiful, lonely beach where you can quietly examine your thoughts. The spot is located at the southern part of the Marlera peninsula and is favourable only for surfing on waves, which already rise under a weak south wind and a somewhat stronger southwest. The best are the ones from the ?dead sea? or when it suddenly turns northward, which can additionally increase and calm the wave.

Riding |
The beauty of nature and favourable Mediterranean climate were surely sufficient reasons fot the Austrian baron Morhamer to build his residence in the distant 1900, between Liznjan and Medulin only a kilometre from the sea. The present owners, the Buic family have continued and enriched that tradition, adapting some ten hectares surrounded by an Austro-Hungarian wall to horses, breeding, sport and agricultural tourism.
The stancija and Equestrian centre Libora has modern horses-stables with about thirty boxes, grass-plot (80x60 metres) and "campo prova" - paddock in sand (40x60 metres). Junior David, the only representative of Istrian equestrian sport until now and winner of a number of both national and internationa awards, who trains a dozen of top sports horses of the Holstein, Hanover, Westfalen, Holland breed and English Thorough-breed, had in a short time reached the top of Croatian equestrian show jumping. The equestrian club Libora organizes a number of national and international equestrian tournaments (C.S.I.), as well as the traditional Golden Manes in collaboration with Fieracavalli Verona in the grandiose Arena in Pula.
On the 60 hectares of wild pastures of the Mediterranean type young stallions are bred. The mild Mediterranean climate enables horse-riding all the year round in the intact nature and beautiful meadows along hte coast at Marlera. Kind hosts willl offer you traditional Istrian food prepared by old-fashioned recipes from our own Organic food production,, fresh fish and excellent local wine. The hosts, excellent connoisseurs of nature, animals and sea, are always willing to teach the guests who are not familiar wiht the pleasure, whereas those aquainted with them may always learn something new.

The most important scubadiving location around Liznjan is Cesare Rossarol, the Italian war ship which sank near Liznjan. Images shown on this page are captured from the documentary Cesare Rossarol, recorded under the MATRA programe of Ministry of foreign affairs of Kingdom of Netherland. Also, see the 30 second underwater movie about Cesare Rossarol. Another location to explore is the Cuf promontory. If you wish to visit either of these spots, you must contact KL Sub, a member of Diving center Indie, or Sport fishing and diving on sea organisation "Marlera"

There are training courses for beginners which are organized in accordance with the program authorized by the Croatian Ministry of Education and Sport.
